NOS CAM HELP

Post  studly on June 21st 2010, 10:03 am

Can anyone point me in a direction for a good NOS cam for a 532 BBF with elde heads, the cam i currently have runs okay but it does not like to run until 6000rpm and then it takes off. i would like to move the curve down some as i have a stock dove block girdled.

Example

leave 3200rpm shift 6800 rpm at 3300lbs motor only car runs 6.60
leave 4200 rpm shift 7800 rpm at 3300lbs motor only car runs 6.40

no 6.40 is on motor alone the car will run 5.65 @126 on a 250 hit but it does not feel like its making any power until over 6000 rpm i want the cam to have more bottom end and less top end rpm. the car has a good UCC 9.5 tight nitrous converter and 3.89 gears on a 28 x10.5 tire. it does the same on motor or nos does not feel like it has any power untill it is way up in the RPMS.

OK so it actually runs 5.65 @ 126 on no2 no matter where you shift it?

Is the Cam properly degreed in? and where do you have it installed?

well basicly i have a very good cam just not enouph motor if it was a 570-598 a460 motor it would be spot on but since its an eldebrock headed 532 with not enoph compression it does not want to work unless i spin it then the heads give up right when its making power. going a whole different route. if you have a a460 headed motor with about 14.1 compression i have the cam for you on sale now. With spray it shouldnt matter, I only have 460 inches and on the sauce it hits hard as F@#K. Nitrous makes a ton of torque RIGHT NOW, so if its not moving down low something else is happening.

We shall see i know nitrous makes power but how well it makes it is a combination. if the car stays the same after cam swap i will post up before and after et for same hit

Re: NOS CAM HELP

Post  studly on June 29th 2010, 8:28 am

I got my new cam yesterday, taking it to the machine shop today to put the double key in it should have back by friday, but i still need to get a set of Rocker Arms going to take a little time to come up with that money. I am going to put the motor back together this weekend and save some coin for new rockers. i had the old style Crane with the pressed in bearings and one of them popped out and dropped the needle bearings in the motor just luckaly the screen was too small for them to go into the motor.

soon as i get them back to the track for some testing
