Cage, dash and wiring to go, finaly its almost done

Post  nuclearcobra on Tue 22 Jun - 8:31

now that i purchased a set of scj's and diamond flat tops from Lem plus some odds and ends. The heads are at Charlie's gettin the valves backcut now thats it no porting at this time. The new combo will be going in my 70 dove-a block two bolt main with stock turned crank, eagle h-beams,new pistons and the heads. The intake is a 4150 victor unported and i have my aed 950 carb to try i built. The cam is gonna be a solid flat tappit with edm lifters not sure on the size yet it will be the biggest i can go without overkill for this combo as its a drag only car. The headers are hooker 2''-3-1/2'' with dynomax 3'' bullits, trans is a c6 with manuel reverse body no brake and a hughs comp 4000 stall, rear is a 8.8/9'' ends,33# mosers and spool with 390 gears, hoosier 10'' slicks. Ignition is all msd. The best ever with my old combo in this car (84 mustang hatch)was a 10.57 @ 128 mph with a 1.48 60' weighing in at 2725 with driver. The old combo was the same block, crank and the pistons were trw 2404 dished with stage 2 rods(stockers with good bolts) cam was a comp 292 magnum flat hyd (244@.050 -560 lift) intake and carb was the same, the converter was a 11'' tci breakaway that i cant footbrake over 1500 and the heads were ported c8's with 2.19-1.72 valves with wornout comp #926 springs. My guess on the new combo will be 9.50's to 60's. I'm not sure if thats far fetched or not but i think its gonna fly and its gonna be close to a 100lbs lighter Very Happy Anybody have any guess on this combo ?

9.60's should be close once the combo is dialed in...

Come on now and quit fingering the ports and post some pics. If you keep rubbing on the ports Uncle Charlie won't have anything left to massage.

Yea Very Happy new cam just got here today from scotty j Twisted Evil and lem's got the pistons on the way, then its purchase some rod/main bearings, timing set and get the rods checked finaly Very Happy I wanted to get them out last week but the heat pump/air conditioning unit went up at my house and that was priorty, and i didnt want to call a hvac man cause its usally big bucks so i took it apart myself and found that it burned up the fan motor and capacitor on the outdoor unit , so $266 later we have cold air once again now i can get back to the last bit of parts ordering and get this thing toghether Twisted Evil

Well the machine shop is all done with both motors and the house of balance will be done done this week Very Happy yee ha cant wait to start puttin them toghether. The other motor i'm doing is for my buddy action jackson its a 472 with my old combo, the c8 ported heads with new valves and springs the trw pistons and stage 2 rods. The cam i got for his is a tad bigger than my comp 292 magnum i had in it its a lunati 31605 rpm range is 3200-6800 and dur is 245-255 with 615-622 lift and they will have the right springs for it which i never did for the 292. The heads will get the victor port match this time as they were matched to a stealth before and he'll have a good converter for it, i was using the tci 11'' breakaway that i couldn't foot brake over 1500 but still managed a 10.57 at 128mph with a 1.48 60'. His mustang is gutted like mine the only diffrence will be 373's and glass except for the hatch mine had all lexan and mine has 390's so i still think he's gonna run quite a bit faster than it did in my car,all he wanted was a high 10 second car so i think he will be thrilled. I'll post pics as i start the builds.

Keep beatin on it like i always have Laughing i've had that car since 94 even tho i haven't had it registered for three years now,but last month i finaly got it tagged again and this time i got a vanity plate for it that says SLOW,i think its kinda of funny when i take it to the races and pull up to do the burnout and the chevy fools read that and say thats right that plate belongs on a ford and then i yank the skinnys that high and run 10.80's tagged and insured Cool then they don't have much to say especially when they find out its just a little 302 Shocked

I was very tempted to get the p51's also but i wanted to try the scj's first, i still think its gonna fly tho and the new weight being 2625 with driver is gonna help a lot. I'm curious to see what yours is gonna run now with your new combo Twisted Evil my guess is your gonna have a nasty 10 second chero on your hands Shocked
