Phoenix drag tires
Phoenix drag tires has a size that would really work good for me, but I don't know much about them. Does anyone here have any experience with them? How do they work?
Thanks, Derek

They are a good tire, i wish the sidewalls were a bit stiffer, but they work good on a hot or cold track, very consistant.

Good tire. I've only heard one complaint. Buddy of mine owns a tire store. Mounts them for guys on a regular basis. He told me he has to cut most of the off the rim if they have been installed for a while. The wire bead inside the tire at the rim is about 1/2 the width of a MT/Hoosier/GY bead. If the tire is stuck to the rim none of his several different tire machines can get enough bite to break the bead down. They just slip off. He will cut the tire away from the bead for 6-8" and the use a cutoff wheel to carefully cut the wire bead.

PHOENIX DRAG TIRES
Tried 'em this year for the first time, replacing GoodBoots. Seems like the sidewall is alittle stiffer, car drives LOTS better on the top end.

Thanks a lot guys. I don't know anyone who runs them so I wanted to ask around before I spent the money.

Never messed with the Phoenix stuff when they started up years ago cuz it was said to be the ashes of the failed Firestone slicks setup, made everyone kinda gun-shy at the time. These days don't really see a ton of them around here, mostly M/T, Hoosiers, Goodyears.

BTW, Phoenix has changed hands since they started up with the remains of Firestone slicks. They are now owned by Coker Tire in Chattanooga TN. Same company that makes all the reproduction collector car tires. wide whitewalls, red lines, M&H Racemaster, etc.

Re: Phoenix drag tires
The sad thing is if Firestone had been smart enough to keep their short lived super sticky "magical" compound #F-2 slicks (that worked on damn near ALL car types) & then solved the roll-out difference problems, they would have been a top contender & still been around today. But NOOOOOO, they dump the #2 compound & push their crappy F-9 & F-30 siht on everyone.
