I heard the same thing. He loves the sport and would do anything he can too make it better. When the NHRA was up there the Bader family ran the event not the NHRA.They were there to enforce the rules that's all.I think that's cool as hell. Cool

I don't know if you guys know it or not but, the Bader family owned THREE rather large 1/4 mile drag race tracks and owned the entire IHRA santioning body.
They sold IHRA along with two of those tracks and then made their Norwalk venue an NHRA track.

Drive shaft explosion

Post  Dagwood on July 26th 2010, 6:54 pm

He did not blow something in the front end. His Carbon Fiber driveshaft exploded took track personel an hour to clean it up due to the carbon fiber embeding itself in the racing surface

I know, my description of the picture is ABOVE it. You must have read the description of the picture BELOW it.

In my post it says "Guy laid his carbon fiber drive shaft to rest at the starting line, laid it into the asphalt." above this picture.

Before this event I wanted to build a maverick drag car because there aren't many of them built in to drag cars. They are perfect for drag racing and I love them, but it was maverick central at Norwalk! I've never seen so many in my life, there were more mavericks than anything else.

rmcomprandy wrote:Adney and I got there Thursday evening as instructed by promoters; there were exactly 4 vendors there on "set-up" day; Thursday.
They set us up on the spectator and car show side of the track just downtrack from "manufacturers row". We were there all day Friday and all day Saturday.

SPECTATORS don't buy "hard core" race parts; RACERS do.
We sold only a couple fuel jugs in two full days. No cranks or rods or carburetors or race mufflers or anything else. We left for home on Saturday night at 9:30 pm definately not to return on Sunday.
There were probably only a couple 100 spectators in all.
The hard core race parts vendors SHOULD be set-up on the RACER'S side of the track.

Vendors who sell posters and model cars, race memorabilia and junk parts were busy ... any vendor with hard core race parts to sell had two days of wasting their time. (Three days if they stayed).
Racers can't really leave their cars for more than 20 minutes or so and it was a 1/2 mile to the vendors from the other, (racer's), side of the track,

Randy,
If you come next year. Call Debbie Bader and tell her the deal. Youll be pitside then. Thats what the Fire-core guys did.

Great chatting with ya Saturday.
Regards.
Al
