Resplie axles

Post  Tore on August 18th 2010, 3:55 pm

Can Moser axles be cut and resplined? I called them and they say they dont recommend it because of the heat treating. I thought that was odd. I asked if they are case hardened or hardened thru and he said the ones I was looking at are hardened thru. I asked the Rc and he couldnt tell me.

Thanks Tore

I know for a fact they can do the stockers. Greg told me that years ago, and cut a set for a freind of mine back in the day. Dont know about their race axles though.

Better to get new ones and sell your old ones.

Plus having stock stuff shortend and resplined for racing is a big mistake, much better and safer to start with known parts.

Yeah, If I remember correctly, the cut down ones were only suggested for around 400HP, or street aplications.

If Mosier changed how they heat treat their axles over the years, that might explain their not wanting to respline their own stuff now days.

But in the past Mosier would gladly respline most any brand/type axle, no problem (well except maybe MW axles).

When I bought mosier axles earlier this year they told me that if ever needed to shorten mine they would be fine to respline but my axles are short to start with my rearend is only 46" wide.

So did you end up narrowing your housing yourself?

Al yes I narrowed it myself and had my uncles friend to weld it with his jig.He told me it was dead on he didn't have to make any adjustments. He only charged me $50.00 I couldn't make a jig for that. But after I get the truck finished I am planning on to get the stuff and make me a jig to have of my own.
