Well I don't know Jay or IDT but I have not had any luck in hiring people lately.

I have called at least 6 people to come in about replacing my flooring and I have 1 quote after 3 weeks. ($9600.00)
I have called 5 drywall people in to come fix my water damage and not 1 has showed up. ($1300)
I called a shop from a different forum about ordering some 13" wilwood brakes for my Falcon and they wouldn't call me back. ($1300.00)
I called 3 pest control people last week because our past pest control guy has moved on, 1 showed up.

I all these situations I called one person and waited days for a no show then moved on. It is not like I called 5 people in one day wasting everybody's time.

Apparently some people are not in a recession or their customer service just plain sucks ass. I have cash I need to spend and I am paying their price so it doesn't get any better then that. I can tell you this much, like Boss 429, I am not going to chase someone down to take my money. If you don't even have the business sense (or common courtesy) to call someone back then quite frankly screw you, there is no excuse for it.

How are you comeing across to these companys ? Do they take you serious that you want the work done ? your demands/time frame . stopping by their store has its benefit - they get to know you and you them , also can ask for past customers to see the quality of their work

It doesn't seem too difficult of a process to me Dan. It goes something like this:
Me: "I have some water damaged hard wood flooring that needs to be replaced do you do that type of work?"
Them: Yes.
Me: "Ok, do you have someone that can come out for an estimate?"
Them: "Yes, how about tomorrow at XX time."
Me: "Yes that would be great."

Then they proceed not to show up and the ones that did show up measured my house , left and never called back. Only one person sent me an estimate when they said they would. I went to three flooring places and one of them was the place that sent me an estimate and the rest of the people were contractors that do the installation so they don't have a showroom. I have insurance to cover it and I already have a cheque for the down payment so it is not like I am not serious. I am not going to live with floor all sticking up in the hallway.

My whole point was the customer service sucks in every industry in this country not just in this industry. You would think people that are making less because of the recession would have a little better service but it sure doesn't seem that way.
