I goofed...

Post  bb429power on August 30th 2010, 2:41 pm

Well I went up to my hunting cabin with my grandpa since it might be the last time he goes up there. My brother and dad went too. Well we would always go around in the woods and there will be old, smaller, trees and stumps that are rotted out and we'll kick them over. Why? Because its friggin cool! Laughing Well sometimes they don't fall down, you think they're weak then you kick it and make an azz out of yourself real quick.

I saw one after I set up some shooting targets. I went over to it and pushed it a little bit to make sure it WOULD fall over. I said "hey dad"! then he looked, I went whoy yawh! then did a karotee move on it and knocked it down, then I was thinking about kicking it again. Next thing I knew I was running out of there getting stung by bee's Exclamation Ah hell, there ended up being a paper wasp nest directly on the other side of where I kicked it. But they were all black basically, I don't know what they were I just got the hell outta there. I got stung four times once on the left wrist (top), right wrist (bottom), left ankle, and right side of my back. Embarassed Laughing Ooops.

My grandpa said the same thing. They were an inch long but no white head, I think there was a small blue stripe on them before the head. I'll google it and see what I can find.

Maybe this is what they were? They were more of a solid body unlike a wasp, but they weren't fat like a bumble bee.

we have the big ass hornet's.the kind that look like yellowjacket but are the size of your thumb! they sound loke humming birds when they fly by. Laughing the black ones your talken about are what we call hornet's,black body with a white stripe about midway of the body.

Those big one's your talking about I think they are something other than wasps. A long time ago in 4th grade I learned about these things called secata killers, you know what sacata's are. Those bugs that are always making noise, but the sacata killers look like a wasp on a steroid overdose Shocked HUGE things, they will paralize the sacata's I'll see if I can get a picture, but I do know all the bugs down south are bigger. Maybe they are wasps though...

ouch! I was getting rid of a small wasp nest with some WD-40 and a torch once. Sadly, I did not notice the much larger nest a few feet away...
