Best A/F Starting Point?

Post  billandlori on October 24th 2010, 1:07 pm

Hey folks,

What is a good baseline set up for a/f ratios for a drag only car? Looking for idle (pit cruising), burnout and WOT.

A buddy of ours has a 1994 Trans Am with a LT1 for stock class racing. The settings he was given has it VERY rich at idle, it makes your eyes water! 11-12:1 at idle.

Any thoughts??

I'm not a gas tuner, but I'll give it a shot. I would say around 12.5 to 1 at idle to keep things cool, the burnout doesnt matter, and for optimal unsafeness for speed 14-1 WOT

Thanks Curt, I was thinking he would be loading up the plugs real bad idling so rich. It has amazing throttle response, but runs real rough at idle-just off idle. It has a stock lift cam, "bit more duration", gotta love these Stock/Super Stock guys!!
