Hello from N.Y.

Post  68fairlane545 on August 27th 2009, 8:18 pm

Its great to have another excellent source of knowledge and entertainment. This is my first post but I have learned alot from everyone and am very appreciative. My name is Greg and have been putting together a 68 Fairlane street/strip car for about four years now. I installed ladder bars (with coilovers), minitubbed the wheelwells and narrowed the rearend 3" per side. Rearend has been braced and uses a detroit locker 31 spline. I also performed the shelby drop, notched the shocktowers and installed frame ties. The motor is a 545 with "magic" eddys, victor and a 1050. The tranny and converter are a Broaderperformance c6. Using disc brakes on all 4 corners. Car is running and driving but is awaiting paint and final assembly... I have been taking lots of pictures and video as I go so eventually I will create a new build thread. Hope to have it in paint real soon. Thanks for letting me ramble... Greg.

Welcome Greg. Looking forward to the pictures and videos. At one time, I owned a 69 R-Code Ranchero.

Hey, Greg: Where in New York are you located? I'm in Greenfield Center, N.Y. just outside Saratoga Springs.

Wayne, I live in the town of Walworth about 25 miles east of Rochester. Looks like your out near Albany. I have some friends in Coxsockie that I visit occasionally... nice area. Greg.

Hotrod, That is a really nice looking ride you have. I actually was just working on my boss scoop before I came inside. I was originally going to use a shorter factory cobrajet type scoop that I've already purchased but the build changed along with hood clearance. Trying real hard to get some self etching primer on the car this week, car is down to bare metal already. Cant wait to drive this car! Have you posted details of your car/ build? I'll have to check and see. Looks cool. Greg.
