Block fill???

Post  95lightiningguy on November 15th 2010, 3:14 am

Hey guys, gotta problem I need some help with. The truck my son came home with, that he talked his mom into buying, I believe has a crack in one of the cylinders. I have already done a lot of work on it and called myself looking it over good but just found this while putting it back together after a hone for a ring and bearing job. My question is can I fill the block to just above the crack and it be okay? I know another block would be ideal but I really dont want to spend any more money than I have to right now. Dont plan on driving it much, just a backup for me until he turns 16 and can get his license. When he does turn 16 we will rethink it but just for now need a real cheap fix to get it back together so the city will leave me alone. Is this okay to do? Thanks for any input you have.

Hard block or block fill will not keep it from leaking I tried this once before and still ended up paying to have it fixed right.
You might try some J.B Weld on it.

This block really isnt worth sleeving I dont believe. Been bored 60 already and can get another block for less than a sleeve. Thanks guys, didnt think it was a good idea but figured I'd ask the experts. Sad
