these are ex514 heads. yes 530ish ci making 1000hp , 1 CARB. but I have 2 of these engines here for guys that make that power not 1, I dont post peoples dynos sheets because they would not like that, yes they are the iron heads.

I'm not sure how relevant this is, and it's definitely out of my area of experience. I was talking to Cliff at Kaase's shop a couple of months ago and he told me they had the new Boss 9 heads flowing a max of 510cfm at that time. He was going to fax me a copy of the flow sheet but my fax wasn't working at the time, and since I'm not ready for anything that large, I didn't want to bother him again right now. I didn't ask for specifics such as valve sizes or cut angles.

That would be quite impressive if it is in fact true. I'd sure like to think it is.

510cfm, isn't that getting into A441 hemi territory? The best i've seen from the boss9's was around 450cfm if i remember right. If the boss9's can get up to 500+cfm that would be great, but it makes ya wonder if that isn't a special set that was done with no regard to cost or maybe something that he will setup a CNC program for? Either way 510cfm is pretty impressive! Very Happy

I'm thinking thats 500+ is with raised intake port plates and very large valves 2.45ish and 55 deg +/- valve job

We have built a few 598" engines with our Boss 9 heads & intake. A street compression (10.5), engine will make about 1000 HP, if it has enough cam. At least 273-280, .460 Lobe. 280-288, 112 CL is better. We have had a few with ported heads and a little more compression that made 1040 HP. We only did one that was more of a race engine. It had 12.5 compression, Jesel keyed lifters, 280-288, 112 cam, 1.85 intake rockers, and my Enginemasters heads from 2009. The heads had the intake manifold spaced up with a 1/2" spacer, and the intake ports moved up about 5/8", with the floors filled. It still used the stock size steel valves and an unported intake with an 1150 dominator. That engine made 1115HP and 890 FT/LBS.
So the answer is you can make 1000 HP fairly easy, and 1100+ if you upgrade in a few areas. .... Kaase

Thanks MR Kaase. for your input as well as everybody else. That is what I was wanting to hear. The only reason I was woundering to begin with is because when I build this motor I want to hurt some BBc guys feelings, because all they have done is cry about me wanting to run our local series with a boss headed motor. They keep saying that they are not worried about a BBF,yet they keep saying these heads are illegal and are not conventional heads. I just hope I can run the #'s I need to to be a player at 3200lbs.

The only problem with building an engine in the so-called gray area is: If you whoop ass this season with them, next season, the rule makers (read:Chevy guys) will ban hemi-style heads and you will be stuck with having to come up with another new engine combo.

My point exactly in the other thread...... They hate to get beat by their own rules....
