i'm thinken about shaft rockers for my 605 and have had realy good luck with crower stuff i've used.today i got a new summit mag in the mail and noticed crower makes shaft rockers too.i did'nt want to call the tec line to see if they make them for A460's,so.........anybody have an opinion? i've also looked at the others,t&d,ww,jesel and was about sold on the ww's.all ideas welcome, thanks! Yes, I'm pretty sure that Crower makes them for the A-460 heads. To the best of my knowledge it's basically the same rocker and stand set-up they use for the CJ style heads. There is no offset required for the A-460 intake rockers, like there is for C-460 intake rockers.

There may be some other things you would want to look at. For example the length of the body. If you go from a 1650 body, which is what most companies use for those rockers, to a 1750 body, it becomes a longer see-saw and there is less travel across the tip of the valve. You may also want to ask about the diameter of the axle shaft. Some companies use a 9/16" axle, and others use a 5/8" axle. Also, most likely you will need to elongate the pushrod hole in your IDT heads, and slot them up towards the intake manifold. With most shaft mounted rockers, once the engine builder gets the geometry all worked out, it is common to tack weld the stands together. However, W.W. had just finished a new prototype one piece intake stand and then uses 4 individual exhaust stands that butt up against the one piece intake stand.

Another vote for the WW rockers....

I'm running 6 sets of them on A460 style heads and if you can get the 1 piece stand that would be the way to go.

http://wwrockers.com/

Call them and you will learn a lot about your valvetrain.

As you make the choice for rocker systems, call and check prices on replacement parts....like individual rockers.
All of the above mentioned systems are good quality, but the price of an individual replacement rocker can be an ugly surprise. Just one more thing to consider.......

Cool think of it like this on shaft Rockers you have 1 bolt holding each rocker stand to the head....

Now with studs and girdle you have a stud in the head and a girdle holding all of them together.

I personally think the stud and girdle is a stronger deal cuz if you break a stud it is still held in place with the girdle. on a shaft deal it isn't and may end up anywhere....with more carnage

besides the heads built for shafts have a much wider base pad than a head designed for studs...

wider base pad , take the C460 head , true for the intake but the same pad as regular heads for the exhaust .

HMMMM? i'm still on the fence. Laughing ok,lets look at how i plan this thing to run.i'll only run 1/8,2400# car,4.86 gear. 4.625x4.=605.heads flow 500/350,compression should be at least 14.1.i have a cami can use but figure i'll buy a new one.i'm also gona use a t/r with a enderle bird on alky.looking at other builds i figure it should top out around 75-7800rpm.i know studs will get it done,i'm just looken for the better of the two for how i'm useing them.thanks everybody. cool another thing to think of is cost... you can put all new studs and plates and rockers for say $500... shafts cost $2000 I could sure use that extra $1500 on something better fitted and more useful... but thats just my opinion

Think you have to pay way more then $500 for a good set of studs, guide plates ,rockers and stud girdle...

And I've never paid $2000 for a set of WW rockers, think they where less then $1500 for me...

On the jon Kaase website you can see some prices also but next time I would buy WW's again because of their great support.

The TFS A460 stuff includes studs and plates as does the frpp scj . The FRPP A460 rockers and Jomar girdle kit total $574.....that's the # one should use when comparing the cost of the two systems.

ok say $1500 minus $575 still leaves you $925 difference that can be put somewhere else...

like good converter, Headers, Danny Bee, Ignition system... can go along way to alot of things...

it took everything I had to not get shaft rockers... but what kept racin through my head was "shafts rockers are better suited for a head specifically designed for them"... I liked the fact that I could have ran a shorter valve cover, but whats the point with a tall ass tfs a460 intake and a plate... plus the rockers I bought can be used on ALOT of other head configurations..crower SS, and Jomar... pirat
