Don't know if this will help but at the ADRL event one of the Pro Mods had a carbon or 'glass body with a very convincing chrome plated finish on it's molded-in bumpers.

The "chrome" finish on it's bumpers was surprisingly shinny, and did look to in fact be some form of a plastics plating process (vs just an air-brush "chrome" paint job). But the plating process (whatever form it was) wasn't a 100% dead-nuts factory chrome bumper looking finish as it did have a very slight, somewhat light blue-ish tint in it.

I had my bumpers painted on my old Cougar and you couldn't tell they were painted from more than about 2 ft. They even had bug guts painted into them and the marker lights. Laughing

Yeah I've seen that before. Its been a really long time but if I remember correctly its a combination of 3 minerals and two of them is zinc and nickle??? Sound about right? The stuff I've seen looks like real chrome all the way down to the shine unlike that auto parts store "chrome" in a spray can. I wish I could remember what it was exactly scratch

I just did a search.
"The closest thing to chrome in a spray form is Alsa Corp's MirraChrome... Its actually how most of the chrome cars you see are done."

I also found out that there is a chrome vinyl wrap that looks like real chrome. I can't imagine the paint would be cheap though Shocked

Tim Murphy/ owner of TheFabShop headers has them on his GT500. Wherever he got his done he was not happy with them, they were pealing. I am getting ready to have the 63 Tempest of Randy's and my 62 Galaxie bumpers done. Ours will be the five stage paint. Won't look like airbrush on the ChevyII above, It will look like real chrome and you can see the second hand on my digital watch ...... Laughing

It was more than likely a product called Mirrachrome. Some cool stuff, I've seen it in person and you would be hard pressed to tell the difference. http://www.alsacorp.com/products/mirrachrome/mirrachrome.htm
