i used the scat 4340 bottom end kit in my 552 build.

I think for what you're intended use is Jesse, the Scat will do you just fine... And it's not gonna drain your pockets... There's a guy here that's using a Scat forged unit in a BBC with N2O and he's been running 1200+ HP with no issues...

so far i have had a scat 9000 in my old 501
and was very happy with it
and than a scat billit in my 530
also very happy with it
so i am happy with scat
i would assume the lunati is fine also
but after talking with adney and advice from ya all
i feel confident with a scat 4340 forged
altho i would liketo get another billit
a forged should work fine fine for me and i plan on keeping it under 1,100
even with a new top end in the next few yrs

The Scat , RPM and Eagle forgings are not the same .

Don't be sorry, I heard the same thing. I woulda thought the RPM and Scat cranks were forged in the same place but if Lem says they're not, I believe him..

Man those eagle cranks are ugly... IMO (lol, don't wanna hurt nobody's feelers)

As can be seen the Eagle [top] and the Scat [lower] sure do have a different "look" . The RPM like Bruno has in his 562" is different yet...although much prettier than the eagle unit . The RPM forgings are sold under several brand names so there is a degree 'sameness' out there .

SCAT does them. Also, Winberg, Callies, Kellog, and many others. These are NOT run of the mill forged cranks...most are billet and cost $2000.00 to $3500.00 depending on the options.

Well, all I'm going to say about this is that someone I know very well has seen Lunati boxes at the SCAT facility, after meandering into a "restricted area." The older Lunati stuff was american-made...don't know about all of there offerings today. Wink

So I take it from what you Engine building Guru's are saying then, That the Scat all 4340 forged rotating assy. Crank and H-beam rods with some Probe SRS Pistons ..wouldnt be a bad way to go for a middle of the road set-up... Being half are cost more and half cost less..

Who do we know that has the best deal...on the scat rotating assy for a 533"er....I had run across Coast high Perf... and they showed some all forged set-ups with the probes for $1779 free balancing and shipping ? But they say the vendor is Probe ? I thought they only made Pistons..

And the TMD (The Mustang Depot) I'am not sure I would buy anything from there? Hawkk parts and some other one ?? Laughing

LOL...well Chuck..I was completely un aware of that...Of course I didnt look at the phone numbers or addy's ?? I'am a little thick headed some times...Very Happy I guess I was too interested in the specs and prices than anything else.. and I probably still wouldnt have connected them ?

Maybe I should stay away from the computer while on pain meds ? Very Happy.....
