Re: Stock Up On Oil
Is the Green oil really better than say VR1.,Shell,Mobile 1,Castrol,Amsoil.All kinda top racers use these kinds of oil and more and have won multiple championships using their sponsor oil.Has anyone had a really badexperience with a top name oil.Was it the oils fault or a part failure that was due to something other than the oils fault???Since I work for Ford I only use Motorcraft oil in my cars & truck.I only use Harley oil in my Harley, only because a mech.told me to use the Harley oil in my bike.In my opinion I don't think there is much difference in all these oils.I sure if I switched ,my car or bike really could'nt tell the difference.John Force sure wins alot of races just using Castrol Oil,instead of Green Oil or Vr1...ect..ect...What do you guys thinkand your reason behind it?Michael

I haven't really ever had any kind of bearing problems from any engine. I think lots of times when someone does have a problem, they like to blame it on the oil,but its another issue that causes it. I also run Motorcraft oil in my everyday drivers. Harold gave me a case of BradPenn and thats what I have now in my Race engine, but the Valvoline VR1 is good too. Oil's today as a whole are all pretty good and meet all the standards. Who's too say one is better than another? Not me,thats for sure.

Just a note. The Castrol that John Force uses, is NOT the same Castrol you or I can buy at the local parts store. It's a specially formulated race only oil manufactured specifically FOR J.F.R. I saw it on an episode of that show Drag Race High, back when Castrol sponsored one of the episodes, and they told the kids just what I said above. "This is ths same oil used by J.F.R., and not the same Castrol GTX you can buy off the shelf." After I saw that, I did alot of other research, and the "conentional" oils that I have used, such as VR-1, Havoline, Motorcraft (made by Conoco) are all the same off the shelf, as what is used by several race teams. Mobile1, and many of the synthetics, also fit the off the shelf category.
