ECONOMY 3.8 Liter Ford.

Post  LivermoreDave on March 23rd 2011, 7:12 pm

An idea came to mind yesterday. Can I alter (externally) the 3.8 Liter V6 in my 1993 Thunderbird to operate on four (4) of the six (6) cylinders smoothly and economically? What would be involved? Dis-arm the injectors (electronically) for the two (2) opposing cylinders in the firing order, remove the spark plugs and fit the spark plug holes with a fitting and connect that opening to the exhaust at a point down from the O2 sensors. Alter the distributor cap that the two (2) cylinders lugs so the spark would not be available to the spark plug wire posts? Leave all else intact so the cylinders would create less parasitic loss as possible. Of course I'm not seeking acceleration improvement but part throttle economy, what y'all think?

Dave.
