Diamond-Like Coating (DLC) applied to firearms ?

Hello All,
Had a thought, wanted to see others' opinions.
The ultra tough coatings that you might find on Nascar piston pins seem like
a good idea if applied to certain parts of a firearm. I was considering having
parts of my revolver coated, the top strap and breach areas, maybe also
the front of the cylinder. Basically, any area exposed to the firing gases,
except the bore; that might affect bullet clearance (but maybe not).
Anybody hear of this being done ?
