The facts are that Ford ask [paid] Robert Yates to scale his SBF heads to a BBF head...which he did.

Re: Another Magazine Build
I was reading a magazine article the other day and the car featured obviously had C heads, but they didn't call them that, they called them Yates heads. Makes sense now, thanks for the info.

I thought the C heads flowed more then that out of the box? Out of the box P51s are in the 390s---all though the potential of the C head is significantly more. I was just surprised by the stock flow number listed for the C head.

C-heads
Someone with more experience correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think C-heads were really meant to be ran out of the box. They obviously have a lot of room in them to get much, much more out of them. Each custom engine builder/head porter can work their own "magic"(hand port or C&C) on them for a specific purpose. Such as dragrace N/A or nitrous, truck puller, gas, Alky or what have you. Nothing like an A-head deal. Who ever pays the bill may run them however they wish.

"Out of the box "C" heads don't even have a valve job.

Oh, then I guess there really isn't a true out of the box flow # then.

I will know this Thursday. Went to the track last Thursday for just a couple test passes, just to make sure nothing falls off. Car did great, no leaks or problems of any kind (mechanically speaking). This week I will make some real passes as I will have some practice.
