will a stock c6 take this power

Post  tiger on April 19th 2011, 4:23 pm

My new 547 has 700 hp, it has a 3,400 stall. I am going to drive it on street and strip. Will a stock c6 take this power, if not what changes need done?

X's 2. I still get impressed with what he did to mine. I have beat this thing like a rented muel, it is still as good as the day I picked it up. Thanks Mike.

I would say no with that kind of power and torq.

the stock C6 will take the power but not at the stock line pressure of 65psi it will need to be raised to 140-150 psi , replace the pressure spring in the VB with a baby blue rear brake shoe retaining spring will put it there.

To make you feel good and so you can tell your buddies it's "Hot Rodded"..... Laughing Laughing

The rollerizing is to free up HP and make things better....

I would amagine that the life of the tranny depends on what the application is but how long will a tranny last with a fresh rebuild with good clutches, a shift kit and pressure increase? I know this is a loaded question but i am just trying to understand c6s better as i am new to building higher hp ford trannys. Gm trannys i have done with good success.

With 700 hp all bets are off but a well built C6 with oem replacement clutches and band should last three years before needing to be refreshed. Using aftermarket carbon/kevlar clutches and bands and Mercon V fluid should run three to five years with weekend racing and driving daily as long as it is properly maintained.
You will need a lot of cooling to go with your converter - at least 35000 BTU (30000 GVW) with lots of airflow (in front of the radiator).

Hey guys, i hate to bring up an old thread like this, I have been looking over rockauto to no end. What is a part number of the correct spring? I bought Dorman part number HW1160, baby blue springs for foxbody brake shoes.

They are app 1 1/8" long, does that sound correct?

I hate sound like i'm asking to be spoon fed, but there are so many different brake shoe hold down springs.

Thanks

Dave S.
