It was good to hear that it was a shaft mismatch. Sure makes for an easier fix!

Hmmmmmm. This just got me to a thinking
Was that your situation John?
How would one know upon installation? Does it do or not do something when you put the convertor on the trans?
I bought my glide from a member from the board next door. Suppose to be top notch and everything, have a turbo spline, yada, yada, yada (I'll see soon) . When Blake had my convertor built and traded in the convertor I got with this trans the folks at PTC said the trade in was set up for a turbo spline......but I really don't know if the input shaft is or not. I can tell you when I put my convertor on, I hard a tough time getting the convertor on all the way. I was spinning it and it would click and go on, then click again and go on. I thought, cool I got it. Instructions said a couple of clicks and you'd have it. Well when I tried to match engine to trans... no way... seemed like the convertor wasn't on all the way. I dicked with it for quite some time trying to figure out what was happening. Long story short.......It clicked a 3rd time and really went on. So I'm just wondering..................

You could pull the shaft out of the trans and fit it into the convertor to feel for spline engagement before putting the conv. onto the trans.

Yep. Just like Dave said above. I didnt test the shaft in the converter before I stuck it all together. I always check that but had a brain fart this time I guess!! I had fluid movement since the tbrame solenoid would get pushed out when in gear. Car just wouldn't move!! The pump worked but there was no mechanical connection due to the shaft being a smaller diameter that what the converter wanted.
It's all good now though. I did notice that the engine does idle a bit lower now that the engine is actually turning something!!!

Yeah......thats what I did after the first time I had to pull it back out to see why things weren't going together like they should be. As I said in my earlier post after the 3rd click she went on all the way....thought she was home after the first 2 clicks....we all live and learn

What a big dummy, everyone knows to check the fit before installation or shipping.
