crank pilot delemma
If my crank pilot is 1.850" and a torque converter says 1.375 crank pilot, can I use the torque converter?

Pilot.
Nope. But check your crank for both. It could have both 1.85 and 1.35 or 1.25. 1.25 is not a factory converter size.

Re: crank pilot delemma
How does that work? I'm getting an Eagle crank and they said its 1.850". The torque converters I keep finding are 1.375" pilot.

Pilot.
You will need a converter for the early crank pilot diameter. '68 to '71 c-6.

Re: crank pilot delemma
What is the pilot diameter anyways? And in other words, I'm screwed price wise.

I'll have to go with the one I was originally going to get.

Re: crank pilot delemma
Years ago you used to be able to get slip-on adapter bushing rings to adapt the smaller OD pilot up to the bigger OD hole. Check with some of the converter makers, they still might offer them.

I think the silly thing is you buying a stock stroke aftermarket crank, when the factory is a much stronger and better piece all together.... but to each his own....

i had a tci with the 1.850 and it was just a ring on the smaller one.i ground the weld off it and pulled it off and used it behind a 400m.all converters are not that way but you could make a ring to go on it very easy.

I started with a 429 and I can't find a stock 460 crank for sale. I don't want to buy one from some one over a website like this either, not saying this forum is bad I just like to buy in person.

So buying the Eagle crank is "buying in person" ? I'm confused...I'd take a chance on a factory crank before I'd buy the Eagle any day. But like Randy said, to each his own...your money.

No, I don't like buying USED parts unless its in person. From a factory I'm okay with. But I CAN NOT find one for crap and wish I could.

Well, if you think that factory Eagle crank is going to be dead nuts perfect, good luck with that. Best thing you could do is take it out of the shipping box and take it to a reputable crank grinder to verify it is even round. But, your mind is made up, so good luck and don't say we didn't tell you so.

Re: crank pilot delemma
I am definantly going to mic. it, and if I need to I will cut it. I already had that in mind. But you know what, I first thought that Eagle was a top brand and one of the very best. Now I know they are far from it. Thank you so much for your help but I don't think what I'm doing will be enough to do that kind of damage. I feel like I'm constantly on everyone's nerves with my build and I don't want to be.
Thank you for helping, I mean it.
