ENGINE BUILDERS! Please look Empty ENGINE BUILDERS! Please look

Most of you have seen my boat?
Now that it's finished, it's time for another boat.
This time I want to do a "K" boat... Only issue is ALL "K" BOATS ARE CHEVY POWER.

here is a video, of "K" boats. Please watch.

470 cui limit.
8-71 blower. (most are spinning them 45 - 50%) about 25 lbs boost. about 1,200 - 1,500 hp
alky injection.
running off the snout of the crank.
engines are turning 7,200 - 7,500rpm for 5 laps. some times they see 8,200rpm.

I have been chatting with one "K" boat owner, he is a FORD man, but has to do the Chevy in the boat "Because he was told so!"

his combo.

474 cui
8-71
Dart block.
Heads not sure ( sure they are aftermarket aluminum)
Billet crank
Oliver rods.
Pedestal rockers. (i would go shaft)
wet sump oiling.

nothing special in his build!

ALl the engine builders say "Fords wont last as in a K boat." Maybe they are thinking OEM ford stuff?

I want to prove these guy's wrong.. I see no issue with a Ford living!

a-460 block,
billet crank,
oliver rods,
shaft rockers
Heads (issue will be blower intake!) but 18 heads bolts would be IDEAL!
TFS, or P-51. Would really like Boss 9!

tell me your thoughts!

Because THEY just don't know any better ... use a 2 lobe, straight lobe rotor; (not the most efficient however, the biggest GULP per revolution being that the class is limited to just an 8-71). The over-all weight of the crankshaft has a lot to do with it but, that can be compensated and the snout diameter driving the supercharger; (no problem).

EDIT: I have built a couple B.B. Ford "White Water Jet Boat" engines and there hasn't been any problems with the oiling of an A460 block.

ADAM ... There is a little more to Whitewater Racing than that video shows as they run up shallow rivers for miles against the current through rapids and rocks and whatever else they encounter. The boat is built like an aluminum lightweight "Sherman Tank" with a race engine.

The White Water racing is really cool, but the Sprint Boats are what I like to watch. Small boat with hugh horsepower Cool I would love to build one of these just to play in on the back creeks of the Savannah River.
