is it acceptable to reduce the size of the outer side of the oil pump for pan clearance?

I think he is referring to the outside of the 2" thick mounting area.
I have trimmed a little off it in the past so the pan side will clear it.

i do mean the outside edge of the 2" part.   pan fit is close but it needs an adjustment
this is on my 545 stock block motor

I was thinking of massaging both the pan and pump for clearance.

I've had to clearance the inside of the mount to clear cranks before. Never had to clearance for a pan. What pan are you running?
