Would it be worth keeping?

I need more room in the shop and I'm trying to decide if I should keep this 460. It's a 1979 460 that probably has bad cam bearings causing zero oil pressure. The engine ran good besides the oil pressure. I would love to sell it because I could darn sure use the money, but I don't know the first person that would need it. So now I'm trying to decide if I should keep it or sell it for scrap. The only thing bad about the block is that it's had a leaking water pump for so long that it has worn a groove in the block face where the water pump bolts.

Would you keep it? If I sold it what would be a good asking price? (It's basically a long block.)

Cam bearings are cheap and the water leak is an easy fix.  SOMEBODY would like to have it.  I hate to see stuff go to the scrapyard just to make room. Mad

That D9 block may not mean much to some guys, but to others...well, you know.

BTW, I've been running a D9 block in the 5's for years.

I'd like to keep it because of the D9 block.

I'm sure it wouldn't cost much to just send it to the machine shop and have it freshened up. Thought about doing that and putting in a plastic bag. Just as sure as I get rid of it I'll need it.

I wouldn't spend the money on it 'til I had plans for it. You could just knock the heads off and store it. Easier to store and move that way

I'd just strip it down and save the block and a few pieces and scrap the top end. They take up a lot less space sitting on end with out heads and a bunch of stuff hanging on them.
