c6 shifting problems

I drove my car today for the first time. The trans has a manual reverse transbrake,. I don't have any fire going to the brake. 5500 stall it starts off in first I assume fine and it shifts to 2nd and 3rd also but when shifting to 2nd and 3rd each hits like a down shift.

This is a Merkle brake. For sure im gonna pm him. Im posting this to see if anybody has ran into this problem and was able to fix it without having to send it to Canada if its the valve body.

Not quite sure what you mean " Hits like a downshift " . You mean it shifts hard? What is the rest of the trans like ? Was it built to Franks specs?

It a Frank brake. Well I was kinda cruising down the road and when I go to 2nd it shifts like a hard hit. May b normal I dont know. It stays in gear though.

Thats a good thing= no slipping

I think I can explain it better. Ok, example! Say you are in 3rd gear and you down shift to 2nd. That bump that you feel, that's what I feel when I up shift. It don't feel like it bump me forward it feels like it bump me back.

downshifts are slow on my vb's , its part of the design so there is no flair on the up shifts . If in doubt recheck you shift linkage adjustment if your not getting clean upshifts as the linkage has to be dead bang on ! and a sloppy cable will give you nothing but grief ! check the backlash on the cable ,over .060" is to much

or if it's just the 2-3 shift the 2nd gear servo is hanging in the case because it's to tight in the bore
