5.0 roller motor
i picked up a roller motor for a project im working on. its suppose to be a stock 5.0. can a stock 5.0 put a 2900 pound 1986 mustang plus 200 pound driver so 3100 total into the 12's? it ran 12.95 @ 103. he said it is all stock with a victor intake, 750 holley, 1 5/8 long tubes, 4.11 gears and 26x10 slicks. thanks jim . i was just wondering.

Re: 5.0 roller motor
It would have to make around 275HP to run the numbers you listed. I would say it was doable.

Re: 5.0 roller motor
Absolutely. I had a 1992 5.0L coupe that went into the 13.90's on street tires in absolute factory trim. Had only ditched the dopey airbox silencer. Gears were FAR from optimum. The car you describe should do it fairly easily.

Re: 5.0 roller motor
The 1.7 will help also cut the egr bumps out of the exhaust side.... if you find your self looking to upgrade to gt40 or gt40p heads remember the stock springs on those will not even support the lift of the stock H.O. cam and a spring upgrade is needed

I have heard that the Mercury Mountaineer 5.0 heads are good also, if you can score a set. They are GT40P's I believe.

Re: 5.0 roller motor
My Maverick is right at 2900# stock Explorer short block, regular E7 heads (not Explorer) 3.00 gears. Will run 14.0's, high 8's in the 1/8. More cam of course, and possibly more gear would help, but I like driving it to any track, even out of state to race. Hooks on regular street tires too.
