With all of that being said , I don't think you are ready for a glide yet ! In my opinion a well built and maintained c4 will serve you well up to about 9.50 et I feel that any faster than that along with the weight of your car you will be getting into a lot of maintenance. I am not saying that the c4 won't go into the 8s ,! PG or C6 will be in your future if you plan to run in the low 9s or high 8s in the 1/4. The big block ford alone is hard on parts add a powere adder and it makes it worse.

That's good to hear and I agree. I'm going to pay closer attention to my 60 foot . I've picked up a 10 pass used set of m/the et drags W that are 28x10.5 to replace the hoosier 28x10s. Hoping it let's me run less psi to launch better

The forward clutch hubs break when machined too far for the bearing. IMO cut so O.D of the bearing is snug fit. See pics of what I mean . Or else a local place here make a nice Chrome moly one Smile It comes ready for a roller

Build a C6 Frank's way and it will last for years trouble free. I built mine as per his specs and bought one of his transbrake VB's. it's a killer piece. It gets a winter tear down for free every year thanks my sponsor but they never see anything wrong. Mine is and will always be all Ford, no glides for this cat. It drives my buddy's nuts that I won't put one in and it bugs them more if they lose to me with their glides LOL ...Having to shift a 3 speed is 1/2 the fun of racing for me. My car is track only, glass hood and hatch. 3025lbs with my ass in the seat. 2775lb without me. Very Happy

I myself like staying all Ford , but out of all my stubbornness and years of building transmissions . I have found that as good as a c4 is it is no match for 900 hp big block Ford !

Power glide is the cheapest option for what you pay and low maintenance.

Want to stay all Ford run a c6 with a Frank Merkl Vb and follow his specs on the build.

Rear gear and torque converter stall speed may have to be changed around some for the power glide to, suit your needs and run the number you want.

If you want to stay with the c4 here are a few tips : I use the thicker clutches and steels in the clutch packs and make sure you set the clutch pack clearance and band adjustments correct keep it clean , don't have a lot of end play , use Teflon pump sealing rings ,check Vb psi after build  . Stack style trans cooler with a temp sensor and fan helps , and this is true with any transmission. Deep transmission pan 6an cooler lines no larger than 6an it will hurt the flow and cause transmission to heat up instead of cooling it.
Make sure when you test it that it doesn't have the slightest bit of 3rd gear flair or it will not last long.
Good luck

Good advise................. Wink Tools change as the work gets harder and heavier. That's why you have 1/4 inch drive tools vs 3/4 inch drive. Same applies here on transmissions ! ! ! ! !
