Pinion  Angle Empty Pinion Angle

Am I right in figuring that there should be weight in the car to simulate the driver when setting the driveshaft and rear pinion angles?

I never have but if you are trying to do something with the most accuracy then yes it makes total sense. Try it and see how much difference (if any) there is.

IMO having all the race-ready weight in the car, and the car sitting on the ground compressing the suspension, is usually worth the extra effort when setting-up most any suspension setting.

Having said that it's true having driver weight in the car while setting driveline/U-joint operating angles might not be as 100% critical as it is when setting side-to-side suspension preload, but it couldn't hurt either.
