C6 gear selector wont move past drive Empty C6 gear selector wont move past drive

Had an intermittent problem of not being able to drop gears selector down into 1st gear, now wont go past D down to 2nd or 3rd. I have taken the shifter rod of the selector on the side of the box and still can't move it past D.
