Tfs A460 shaft rockers
We decided to bite the bullet and go shaft instead of stud mount. WW has the 1 PC intake stand but separate exh stand. T n D has 1 PC int stand and separate exh stands that bolt to rocker stud boss and the intake stand. Which to me seems the way to go. T n D part # 7013-1.75/1.75. Which setup do you guys prefer, WW or TnD. Thanks cory

I have 2 sets of ww on my a460 headed engines. I set them both up and tig welded the exhaust stands to the intake stand. No problems so far with them and one set is abused pretty hard. High spring pressure and 9000+ rpm.

Really don't want to have to weld the stands together, hence the T n D setup. They bolt the exh stands to the intake stand. I know the w w are really nice. But welding them together negates using them on another set of heads, if needed down the road. Thanks for the input. Cory

Welds can be cut apart if you got a different set of heads, then re weld

the one piece intake stand for A460 heads probably don’t fit anything else but idk. T&d are good stuff too I’m sure.2 wicked wrote:Really don't want to have to weld the stands together, hence the T n D setup. They bolt the exh stands to the intake stand. Re: Tfs A460 shaft rockers
What i think he meant was another set of A heads, if there's some minor machining difference from one set to another that the stands would potentially not fit the other set because of being welded together.

Yes, that is correct norm. In case of catastrophic failure and had to replace a head or heads. I've really investigated we and tnd. To my way of thinking the T n D setup with the 1 PC int stand and separate exh stands that bolt to stud boss and int stand would be a little better. I am by no means a professional engine builder. Just trying to build the.best engine we can afford. Thanks cory

I've run a set of T&D 1.8's on my A-460's since 2011. They many miles/hours on them. They're a very good product. My stands are welded together.
( The rockers are in a box to be shipped to T&D to be checked out for service after all these years of running)

Re: Tfs A460 shaft rockers
I have a set of the T&D one-pc stands for TFS A460's, purchased new after I bought a set of rockers/stands 2nd hand. I had to send one head in to insure proper fitment of the stand(s). It uses the same system you talk about with individual exhaust stands with a single bolt (1/4"-28 I think).
On mockup, I was a little surprised to find there was still a fitment issue with head studs & nuts. Nothing major, really. Simple millwork by any decent machinist could handle it. Just the way custom stuff works out.
Overall fitment is good. I have test run it, but get full use.

Thank you all for your input, ordered the T n D # 7013-1.75/1.75 this morning. I figured some of the head studs would need trimming. From what I have read and seen. Thanks again cory

Re: Tfs A460 shaft rockers
Was going to set the stand height yesterday. Didn't go as planned! Went to compress the valve springs and poof, my spring compressor broke, the fork that holds the retainer snapped, thank God my fingers weren't in the way. Retainer, spring and compressor for flew across the shop. Ordered a new valve spring compressor rated at 1000# this morning. When it shows up I will get back at setting the stand height. Thanks cory
