Ford 250 inline 6 build
Just picked me up one of those Wuhan Whirly Turbos and thinking about mounting it on my 70 mustang 6 cylinder coupe………
It’s a Gt3582 with a t3 flange.
Thinking about using the Holley 2300 injection system too.
Any suggestions? How would you mount the turbo? Intercooler? Parts sources?

Re: Ford 250 inline 6 build
Little bit of 60’s and up for for inline 6 cylinder history
They started life as the 144/177 in the falcons and mustangs, increased to 200 in the mid 60’s and the raised the decks and stroked to 250 in 70 where rated at 155hp then down to 120 in 72. They live on as a 200/250 until the early 80’s, the 144/177 had solid lifters and adjustable valve trains in the early ones too, it’s a cool swap for the later 200/250’s.
This family in the USA has an Cast into the head intake manifold with a 1v carb, this is very limiting to performance. They are unlike the 240-300 engines that have a removable manifold and various 1v, 2v and injection on later 300’s. They are total different families of engines and nothing interchanges.
In OZ from what I can find they had the log manifold till 70-71 then the cam out with a head with a detachable manifold, it easily swaps onto the USA short block and is worth a pretty big increase in powers.
Next in Oz in about 75ish the came up with what’s called a cross flow head, that moves the intake to the drivers side and angles the valves like a Cleveland and uses Cleveland rocker arms, it’s possible to swap this head but requires extensive mods to the USA short block and the OZ short block has a bunch of differences making it hard to swap into a USA car.
The Aussies really got the party rolling in the early 80 with the next generation of ford inline 6’s with what they call the Barra, the come in SOHC, DOHC 2 and 4 valve and even with turbochargers with power for daily drivers to shit your pants
