Eating 2 and 6 rod bearing
I have a customer with an issue I don't quite get.
4.440 bore x 4.500 stroke ... puller
2 different blocks
2 sets of rods
First crank was a scat, second was an Eagle.
Melling pump
He's eaten 2 and 6 rod bearings three times.
I'm getting a pic of the oil pan, but that seems a each.
Any ideas why, before we throw a bunch of money at it and have the problem repeat?

That's the same journal fed oil by two different mains so, it is either not enough side clearance or a radius to chamfer issue or there is something amiss somewhere in the system for that oiling problem to happen like to much main bearing clearance and that journal is just the first to fail ... if everything is balanced correctly.

How high is he spinning it? What journal size and what bearings?
Wet or dry sump? What rods?

Make sure his big truck puller camshaft and roller lifter combination are not such that the skirt of the lifter body is getting raised up so high it momentarily exposes the lifter oil gallery to the crankcase during peak lift, effectively dumping oil back to the pan (down the lifter bores) rather than being sent to its terminal points.Mark O'Neal wrote:I have a customer with an issue I don't quite get.

Long shot, shot in the dark along the same line. Maybe all off base to.
Have the roller lifters been slot or tick notched to get more oil to the rockers?
If so could they have gotten in the same lifter bores on the second block and the notch's are deeper and they are oiling those rockers more there, instead of those mains?
