Thinking I need more tire speed for my burnout what about a second gear shift ? It takes 5500 rpm to get my tires going normally as they get hot when my tach reaches 5000 I let go of the button just wanting to try this Will my c-6s band hold up to this 502 I have ?I am using the wide band with red lining a superior servo and Franks transbrake .One of Broader Performances high gear drum with the holes drilled in it .Or what about going to third ?? I very much doubt you'll hurt it . I recently freshened a C4 for a local , big cube small block runs 9.1 in the high 140's. He does some no prep stuff and was curious what it was like internal. He has a 6300 converter and said some his fastest runs were leaving in 3rd gear . Sure it needed a freshen but didn't appear to have hurt anything . He's big on frequent oil changes , it was very clean

Several years ago a friend brought me his c-6 out of a drag car . The band and drum were FRIED. His clutches were too I dont know what came first clutches or band but I fixed him up no problems Didnt want any unneeded issues from mine . This is why I am a bit apprehensive. Thanks Greg

I always start my burnout in second then shift to third a second ir two before i let off the line lock. I never have to cross the start line doing it this way. They get good and hot and the car launches good consistently. Its hit or miss on shaking the tires if i dont hit third on the burnout. Next year I'm going to try launching in second and see how the times compare. It doesn't stay in first long at all with the factory gear set.
