I used Mobil1 for years in most of my vehicles, including the race stuff. I have switched to Kendall full synthetic in the last four to five years simply due to cost. Either oil seems to give excellent performance. The Mobil1 continues to be used in my motorcycle, no issues there either. One thing I have found useful, if not mechanically, for sure mentally, the use of COMP's oil additive. The additive is included in the race stuff when each engine is serviced. The drained oil with additive from the race engines then becomes available to the mowers, riders and pushers!

For a power increase, I noticed posted on another website, some of the race oils such as Royal Purple consistently showed power improvements on the dyno.

I use Mobil 1 synthetic 15W-50.

Not all engine lubricants sold as synthetic are the same. We can all tell our favorites, but generally speaking, you do get what you pay for in sythetic lubricants. Personally, I like to stick around Amsoil, Mobil 1, Royal Purple, and Red Line. Note that if you don't take advantage of the extended drain intervals, or your engine leaks profusely, or consumes a lot of oil, then the overall cost may be higher. If you take advantage of the extended drain intervals and your engine holds oil then the price is not only well worth it but the extended life of the engine makes the use of a good synthectic a better deal in the long run. Many people register more horsepower on the dyno when they switch to a quality synthetic. The old belief that synthetic oil leaks is a bunch of hogwash; if you engine leaks oil then the engine has a leak....fix the leak.

After a bunch of discussion with several people, I'm going to make the switch and give the Brad Penn stuff a try. Keep hearing all the talk about the "green oil" so I gotta see for myself!

Klutz lubricants has some pretty interesting stuff also, but it is PRICEY and I'm not familiar with it personally.

Kinda partial to Amsoil. They are a major sponsor of the IHRA this year.

Even if you want to try a different oil take a look at the filters. They are very well designed.

I like Amsoil, Redline and Royal Purple.

I have seen Scheaffer products used before too.

depends on the combo and what your running now..... can be upwards of 15-20hp on some applications.

I have heard the same thing about motors leaking more with synthetic oil but I guess I figured if that is the case the motor was going to leak anyways no matter what you put in it.

when synthetic oil first cam along my uncle was a dealer for some,off brand used by the company he worked for.my dad had a new crown vic,4.6 with 20-30k on it.he put the synthetic oil in it and it started to leak in the garage floor after a few hundred miles.he also put it in his lawn mower,it leaked too. Surprised he went back to his old oil in both and the leaking stopped.i used mobil1 in my 86gt and it never leaked! so.........could it be the oil? the 4.6 did use the 5-20 stuff?
