When one of the tangs on the reluctor (or star wheel) is lined up with the magnetic pick-up, then you need to make sure that the rotor is lined up with one of your terminals in the distributor cap.

The amount of vacuum advance and the amount of centrifugal advance you have in your distributor enters into this equation also. I.E. if you have several degrees of centrifugal advance, then you want the rotor to be at the leading edge of the terminal in your cap, so that when you are at full advance you are centered on the terminal.

Thanks, I assumed thats what it had to be, but my nephew and a buddy of his wanted to argue the point. I'll show him this!!
