Re: 1/2" fuel hose
I don't know what your rules are, but just a reminder that no more than 12" total of rubber fuel line (for flexible connections) is allowed by NHRA. Being an old timer, it seems the logic behind the rule was to protect against fire hazards.

I think you are correct Charlie the only way I see he can get out of buying steel braid is use Stainless or steel tubing but to get 1/2 ID he will have to go 3/4 and that my friend will be a BITCH to bend......

I went to a local Rural King farm supply store and got some 1/2" sprayer hose. It is chemical resistant, so should hold up ok.

Re: 1/2" fuel hose
Thanks Maxx I didn't think about the ag supply all the auto parts stores here can't get or they have to order it from the factory jegs and summit said they can get it but 2 weeks.
Jon I hate the push lock deals I have to use them here at work they are good until they start leaking they don't hold up good on vibs.or they haven't worked good for me atleast.
none of my connection will be over 12" the feed line to carb will be the longest of mybe 10 or 11" Well the vent hose it will be about 18"
I under stand what Randy,Charlie, and Jon is saying on the hose deal I know about alot of rubber fuel hose under the hood make for some big fires if one goes to leaking been there and done that on my 69.

Re: 1/2" fuel hose
You should be able to get the "industrial" pushlock stuff at the local industrial hydraulic shops, truck stops, etc...
FWIW, all the stuff we use on boats down here is just typical rubber pushlock stuff anyway with brass fittings.

I have had really good luck with Russells Twist-Lok. I HATE working with braided hoses!

Re: 1/2" fuel hose
we use push lock stuff on everything. and most of the stuff we do is high pressure fuel injected stuff. you have to be careful with the push lock stuff because most of it does not like alky if you plan on using it.
the 12" rule is total length not at each connection. You can always buy 1/2 inch aluminum line. it works well and then use short rubber lines for connections.

The rule reads 12" TOTAL, not per connection. Don't spend money on stuff that will not let you pass tech.

Re: 1/2" fuel hose
I went to the pushlock this year, and love it. I have some -8 left and if you get your fitings I will send you some. Pushlock is bigger than braided line, the -8 has a has a ID of 1/2in.

Wear I said I hate push locks here
Jon I hate the push lock deals I have to use them here at work they are good until they start leaking they don't hold up good on vibs.or they haven't worked good for me atleast.
For some reason I thought you were talking about the brass push lock for the nylon hose.Yes the push locks and twist lock are what I use and have now on it.I know that tech don't like seeing alot of rubber hose and them worm gear clamps on hoses. But they never have said anything about the way I had the old setup on it.I had two 22" 3/8 hose with the 6an fitting on from regulator to carb. Not saying it was legal they just never said anything to me about it and I have ran it on 2 different nhra tracks.
But yes I see what everyone is saying THINK SAFETY some times we tend to look over some of the small important thimgs.

Re: 1/2" fuel hose
The sprayer hose I was referencing that I bought is also rated to 300 psi. I only ran it transitioning from the aluminum line I have running from my fuel cell to the regulator...I was using a compression fitting and an elbow, and could not get a tiny persistent leak to stop. Also have Parker hose with crimped on -8 fittings going from the regulator to the carb. It is rated at like 2200 psi Our shop uses it to make hydraulic lines for heavy equipment. I doubt my 6.5-7 pounds of pressure will ever hurt it

Re: 1/2" fuel hose
problem is the chemicals and alky in the fuels can attack some types of hoses.

Re: 1/2" fuel hose
I am going to only be using it in 3 spot and it want be but to help with vibs from pump.(1) spot cell to filter 3 1/2" (2) pump to aluminum line 3 1/2" (3) from reg to carb ? on that part. The 3 1/2" hose it total it only leave about a 1/2" in between the end of the fitting inside the hose so the don't rub each other.
Dave I am going to put a peace of the chem hose in some alky and let it sit a day or some to see how it acts with the alky before using it.I got 25' for $20.85 today if it don't work with the alky it can be used for something around the house.Yes alky will attack some rubber and make it swell up like the rubber o-rings on a fuel cell.

Re: 1/2" fuel hose
Little FYI for some guys that pm'd me.
all -8 should be half inch. AN dash sizes you just put the number over 16 and that is the id. -6 is 3/8, -8 is 1/2, -10 is 5/8
I have bought everything from aluminum to braided to pushlok to stainless and this has always held true. I have a bunch or used -10 and -12 if anyone is interested.
but I'm sure that this is not new info for you guys
