Jomar Power Cone spacer Empty Jomar Power Cone spacer

Post  TorinoGT June 20th 2011, 10:28 am

Im running a 1 inch Jomar Power Cone spacer between my QFT dominator style carb and FRPP victor style intake.

My car is 100% street driven, which is typically cruised down Woodward and to other local cruise-ins in metro Detroit.

here is a link to my build if further specifics are needed
https://www.429-460.com/t5821-572-p-51-pump-gas-street-engine

My question is this, after a longer cruise (say 15-20+ miles) my Jomar power cone will be saturated with fuel (and naturally will be more saturated closer to the venturi centers on each side). Can this become a potential problem? Will the phenolic material eventually break down and start to come apart (and be injested by the engine). Is this product not necessarily intended for such a long duty cycle? help! Smile

I don't think it will ever come apart on you, or degrade in any way. Having said that, what I did on one, was clean and wipe it down thoughly with lacquer thinner, and then spray painted the raw machined surface with a clear polyurethane. It seems to be holding up very well also, but it doesn't have the street miles yours does, just race miles.

Hope this helps,

Charlie

Phenolic is used in the aviation industry and can withstand anything you can throw at it. Alot of parts are built from it and we also hand machine molds with it to make aluminum parts in the 50 ton press.

Ok... any particular brand or style? And just to clarify (not to doubt) but the gasolie doesnt attack the polyurethane?

No, the gasoline doesn't seem to attack it. No particular brand, although I think it was Rustoleum in a spray can.
