Using a Kestrel 2500. There are better Kestrel's out there. At the time I wanted to buy, the price was over $200 for this unit. I just didn't have the $. A few months later I checked back and it was on sale for $125. So I figured I'd get it.

Thanks for asking!

Does this model correct for altitude, or does it show the actual altitude?

You can read actual or program it for corrected. I just leave it actual. As long as I keep everything the same I dont think it makes a difference.. My 2c there.

Nothing special Russ. The car was off some but it was an no change deal. Ya don't go changing stuff and try to make it faster. I will admit that the car was still a lil lean. Hang in there and I'll stop the video for a still shot..

Pls watch the video of the sideways pass.. Listen to the comments on that video! The pic I posted was on a different run and was posted for Russ.. He asked for pic's because his Internet won't allow large downloads..

And yes I can run 130 MPH sideways..

Well Cool Pics Les.. I tried to watch the vid..but on this old lap top..and dail up it was jumpin all over the place (choppy) But I myself havent seen a sideways launch like that from a verter either? and Will admit its been 25 years since I have been behind the wheel in competition..But I have sat in for other drivers..

It looked like 1, the silcks didnt have the same pressure in them ? 2 not enough heat in the tires ? 3 your wheels werent straight at the gate.. Or 4 maybe your were paying to much attention to what the verter was going to flash at and werent watching were you were going ? Aww the list goes on !

I'll be the first one to admit Les...I really had my doubts years ago when you started on that project (being a Junkyard) Special... That it would ever see a 10 sec pass at 130mph... and it damn sure doesnt look like the same POS you started with.. I must give credit were credit is do !!

Glad you didnt put it in the wall...and everyone is safe, thats the main thing and you had met some new people and had a good time ! Beer drinkin and BBQin... To me at 54 the racing is secondary..It the Bench racing and hores ass'in around and the beer and the BBQ that really ties the whole thing together..

Thanks for posting the pics so we all could see the fun !! Very Happy

Glad to see you got it straight Les. Seen too many people get sideways like that and end up on the lid when the tires grabbed again.

He gets an "A" for saving the car & keeping it off the wall, but an "F" for getting back in the throttle & trying to salvage a pass that was already dead.........that's just asking for trouble. What if the crooked launch was caused from a major problem like a slick going down, a bent/broken suspension component, or the engine dumping water/oil? Since a driver has no way of knowing what the actual cause of the problem is as it's happening, he should never "get back after it" & try to salvage the dead pass.

Avoiding the guardrail at the start doesn't do much good if you unfortunately still end up dancing with it later down track.

I agree, it's a hard lesson to learn, but worth learning. Idea

I can honestly say that when I went to Pinks Allout earlier this year we had a great time. Our episode airs this Thursday night at 8PM. The making of the show is kinda drawn out but that gave us time to hang out and BS.
