You guys ever lift a complete BBF and glide by the carb pad?

Post  jbozzelle on August 9th 2011, 2:28 pm

Looking to get the engine and trans in my car tonight. You guys ever lift an BBF engine/glide combo by the carb pad with a lifting plate?

Just curious just how much those 4 little 5/16" bolts can take?!

I use bolts so I can use all the threads in the carb pad.

It will be fine .I use a lift plate I made with extra holes for the lift hook .It helps whenever you install the engine with transmisson attached .My 67 comets engine compartment is kinda tight .I have been doing it this way 20 years .Good luck with your install Cool Doug

I bought one of these a little while back. Worth double what it cost! I have used it twice. Last time was to put the 598 in my Bird. Fully assembled and with a JW case (heavy!) glide attached. It combines a lift plate with a load leveler. You can tilt the complete assembly almost to 45° in either direction or level it even with much more weight on one end. $70

I have a long engine leveler that you have to use 2 chains one for each end of the heads but it want work for my ranger might have to build me one of them I like that better than the long one I have.

The lift plate is the only way I have ever done it with the motor/trans.
