I think educating your kids in the proper, and safe way to do things regardless of the activity is good parenting.

Firearms, Power Tools, Atv's......etc.

I dont believe sheltering kids from the activity really works out. They're going to do it anyways when they get older.. may as well teach them the fundamentals while they're young.
