Sad day for motorsports in Calgary

Post  Ranch71460 on October 28th 2011, 7:06 am

The city of Calgary took back the leased land our racing facility is on to make a waste water pond for the dump. They would not even try to come up with a solution to benefit all such as re-designing the road cource to accomodate the ponds.
Link to our track's final days: http://www.dragracealberta.com/Calgary_Race_City_General.html
1.2 million people in Calgary and no racing facility.
I'll be travelling 2 hours to Medicine hat next year, Frank will be teching my car.

That sucks to hear, can you block the decision some how? What legal recourse do the racers have?

This is sad but it has been coming for at least 5 years. The track needs major work to be considered good. Several previous owner/operators have made enemies etc etc etc. too bad but probably not going to change.

I haven't been there for years but it used to be a pretty nice track. Kind of funny how the Hat is the place with a track now and Calgary is without. Exact opposite if years ago.

Race Track

Ken,

You can also travel 2 hrs North to Rimbey once we get the pavement down next summer. You could alternate between the two tracks and get twice as many races in LOL.
