460 & MN12

Is anybody running a 460 with a MN12 IRS? If so what did you do if anything to upgrade the MN12?

I believe that Steeda and Kenny Brown make stronger suspension parts for the independent suspension. Check on Spike on the Horsepower show they just built a early T-bird and did all the mods and added beefier half shafts too. I guess it just depends on what you plan to do. It might be cheaper in the long run to bolt in a solid 8.8 or even a 9" rear.

I am familiar with the PowerBlock build. I had to chuckle with the thought of putting a 9" in it. That's what I took out. I know the 9" can be built much tougher but I would not have the IRS. I will check into Steeda & Kenny Brown to see what they offer.

Also check Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords on the web they just beefed up a cobra Independent rear in the past couple of months. I suppose that if you didn't drag race it you could make it live but even most of the blown cobra guys gave up running it and switched. Try one of the Cobra Mustang web sites they might be able to help too.
