Quite a few guys on here that are using the alky deal, and they will give you a lot of help. Can you use injection? Cool

Welcome to the board .. 500 Cid is big but it's no Monster by no means here on this board. edelbrock make a OK set of Street heads but the A head is worlds ahead if you can use them .

I guess if you post a set of your rule so we can see what your limits are we can help put something together for ya .

Here's a link to a board dedicated to just pulling and has a wealth of info on there .

If you're going to use alcohol, inject it. It will not hurt your combo in any way. A lot of users on here have to Ron's toilet/terminator set up. You can study this at > click for link James Monroe/killer Ron's. We can go from there.

As you probably already know in the pulling world, wheel speed and weight distribution is critical to be competitive. High rpm's = Wheelspeed
Big bore and short stroke=Rpm
Around here 500" is cheater stock class and Alcohol is not permitted. SO,If you are allowed more cubes,do it now and save time and money.

Rules

Post  pullboy on December 4th 2011, 1:47 am

Our rules are pretty simple on engines carbureted, factort block, 500 inch limit and they want u to use a factory style head nobody i pull with runs A-Heads, scj's iron and aluminum, and a set of tfs streets on one guys 557 but he pulls in outlaw and another one of the guys in my class runs the eddie's as well., also i am wanting to go through my heads, and have all the ports max ported, or is it a waste of my money????? any reccomendations on an edelbrock surgeon lol:)

I've used Rupert, Quickfuel, and APD, the APD was the best of the 3. If you have a good core gas carb you can send it to them and they will convert in, my 1050 was 595.00 plus shipping. On the fuel pumps the electric stuff will work, but a belt pump is the best IMO.

Here is the set up on our smallblock car, The bypass regulator is one a local engine shop has made for him, that and we use a Ron's style belt pump.

Well, with the rules you have given, and the permissable heads you have listed, your best bet is to sell the Eddy's and start with a new set of SCJ alum. heads. Step # 1 is to backcut the intake valves, and then you'll need a bigger valve spring for a strong roller cam and a set of titanium retainers.

Hope this helps,

Jon is correct on the price to have APD to convert for $595 that is the same price they gave me to convert mine until I got a smoken deal on the APD alky carb a few months back cheers
