BBF torque ratings with Procharger

Post  Finmach on Mon 5 Dec - 7:40

I am planning with my friend a blown 521-572 cid engine. Our goal is to achieve with Procharger F2 a 1200 hp with low boost. How much can I expect a torque to grow from app. 700hp/700lb ft N/A engine after given a F2 with boost around 7-9 psi. Blowthrough carb is to be used without intercooler and max ported SCJs or P51s are on the list, Victor Jr intake, mechanical roller etc.

edit
compression ratio will be around 9.00-9.50 and will be using pump gas.

Unless you get custom pistons you will be 10 to 10:5 to 1 on the compression.

Custom pistons aren't an issue. Dish close to Grand Canyon is expected. Everything is dependind from the stroke & bore after they are decided. For example +38cc dish compared to 4.300" stroke and 4.440" bore, piston 0.020" down the hole and we're close to 9.5:1 with 73 cc heads. I am more interested from the torque increase or does it acts like a hp figure - 500 hp N/A, with 15psi of boost you'll double the hp figure?

as far as HP is concerned yes, add a atmosphere = X2 is a good rule of thumb, I'm not positive is the rule applies to torque as well.

I would think to say on the 700ft lbs you should grow to 850 to 900lbs. The HP will definatly be way up there. I havent seen to many big blocks but a lot of small blocks run a little more TQ but the horse power is unreal with rpm's.

From few other sources I have read & heart the same figures, modest one from was 800 lb ft ending up to 900+ lb ft.

Thanks from the input. +1000 lb ft with 7-9 psi of boost or with the 15 psi?

I say that for a few reasons: yes it is low boost but it is boost, but you will be lowering the rpm of max horsepower with the blower which in turn will raise the torque from idle up.
