I'd like to know this as well. Everyone you ask has a different opinion and most of them make sense scratch

Gap them the same and stay on top of your tune up. sunny

Gapless tops are also okay, just more money.

Harold,if you decide not to go GAPless. I would get w/Lem on the type of file cut ring you get. Since you don't run a regular Vacumn pump. Also, when he orders your rings, have him to send me Ackerly&Childs rings.

I wouldn't mess w the gapless, I use the regular stuff, I'd venture a guess my leakdown #s are better than most...................... Very Happy

No need for a different ring over gas IMO.

So, why would you assume that you would get all the same answer here...?

I have never seen any more power in either ring type at RPM below 7,000. Gapless rings do tend to keep the oil a bit less diluted.
Regular gap type rings are available in thinner, lighter rings and have better conformability..

Gapless second rings I would use only in a regular type street vehicle applications which start often from a dead cold engine, in a race application they will mask the condition of the top ring.
Gapless top rings will not stand high heat for any appreciable time and will aneal. Any detonation won't be tolerated.

Pick whatever you like, LOL.
