just got some sad news............

I guess a local racer tonight at our home track somehow got airborn and flipped 3-4 times, I don't know the details other than its a back half early falcon. From what they say it was a real hard hit, they flew him out of there but they say he has passed away. I dont remember but I think it was maybe a 9 sec car.....dont matter..........sad deal for sure.

The kid that drives our small block car just bought an enclosed trailer from the guy that totaled the blue fox last fall.

no wasn't him. I never met this guy, but I have seen the car down there quite a bit.

Honestly if i hadn't had company come in tonight I thought about going down there tonight and testing.

Sad to think something we all love could kill us.

Always a sad reminder that what we do and take for granted has a reality we seldom think about. Kinda makes all the yappin and yappin pretty trivial in the big scheme of things.

That's really bad ! We all need to remember that the speeds we all go now can be deadly! I got a wake up call when mine got away from me a couple of years ago. It makes you think, or maybe it's just the age making me think?

here is a little more info posted on MWSC from a member that was close to the family..

"Just got in from visiting the family, and also talked to one of his best friends who just so happened to be in the left lane when it all happened. Jerrys car got loose and went sideways about the 1000' and about centerof track it started barrel rolling and stopped on its lid about the 1st return lane. From what I hear, he went thru the traps at 126. His helmet somehow came off during the crash and sustatined a head injury that was obviously pretty bad. He was still in his harness buckled in tight."

sad news for sure. i saw in the pic he had an open face helmet on. i've never liked those things. after Dale died nascar changed the rules, no open face. i think it should be in drag racing also.

9.99 supposed to have one, i don't think that car was that fast, it may have only been a low 10 sec car......doesn't matter what style it is if it comes off during the crash anyway. From what they say it was a very violent incident.

My car got on the roof a few years back, hit the guardrail, and it aint no fun. Hate to hear this.
