I use HP4's on my boat, so far so good with them. Of course, FL-1HP's are what goes on the car.

Wix on everything else.

I switched over to Wix a while ago. Fram has a factory in our town making oil filters and they were going to close it and ship it to Mexico so I switched. Now they decided to stay but I still don't think they are a very high quality piece.

Yeah reading what I read in those threads on that forum opened my eyes to how poorly they perform.

The Fram "HP" filters are OK to use; the regular Fram oil filters are to restrictive for performance or higher RPM usage because the filtering element is to fine to have good free oil flow.

Use a dual remote with one Fram regular filter parallel with a racing filter and get all the trash.

I had a Fram blow out on my ride while ideling cold in my garage. It split around the seam where the top threaded part is fitted to the outer side jacket. Cold oil psi was 90psi with VR1 50 weight. The motor runs 40psi hot, 75psi cruise/WOT. I swapped over to K&N which is a far stronger piece you can tell just by looking at it and holding it. No more issues. Thank God it happened on the garage floor and not during a pass.

I usually use the Motorcraft HP-1, but I put a Jomar on this year and the oil still looks clean, with just a little darkness after 66 passes... Last year with the HP-1's I had to change the oil mid season due to the oil lookin' so dirty... This winter i'm stockin' up on Jomar... Cool

Jomar filters are the only one I will use on any performance engine..... Best bang for the $$$ IMO 6-8 lbs better oil pressure than motorcraft fl1a and no stinking bypass the let junk in.....

I used to use Fram filters pretty much exclusively, until I blew one up at 85 PSI, I figured it was just a "fluke" - until I tried to put on the replacement filter - the center hole wasn't even threaded! Where the hell is the quality control?? I use nothing but Jomar filters on my cars now, got a great deal on a case of them at the 2008 Big Block Bash - should last me a while!

Had a oil filter seal fail on one filter ever, it was a fram. Never had a problem with wix or jomar.
Of course this was all sbf stuff. Have not bought a BBF yet.

I'm using a WIX racing filter, its the large deal for a remote mount. This filter has been on the motor since last fall when i changed the oil along with the filter for the winter storage. Have just changed the oil once this season, so much for those every weekend oil changes with alky everyone complains about.

Damn good filter, if i was gonna run a std type I'd go with a Jomar, we'll be getting some for our 306 when we start racing.

Is anyone using magnets in some form, like they used to in auto trans??

FYI, had a friend from Toledo loose a Fram on his SG Fairlane in the lights years ago.
What a bad one it was. Had to cut him out of the damn car. Wasnt hurt, but if it had caught fire.....
