Used slicks

Hey guys I have the opportunity to pic up some draglites. Skinnies up front with Mickey Thompson 28x11.5x15 slicks on the rear. They have 20-25 passes on them. I don't have any experience with slicks. I know they have the wear holes in them. What is an acceptable tread depth? What else should I look for?

Also the guy wants $500 for the whole set. The front tires are like new. Is this a deal or just a normal price for used stuff?

price seems good, make sure there are no cuts in the tires, no dry cracks etc. You'll kill the sidewalls long before the depth hole is gone.

Thanks! I read something about heat cycles making the tire hard. Is this what you mean by the sidewalls going?

a car w a lot of power is harder on the sidewalls, usually the reaction times will suffer.

Even if the rear tires need to be replaced the price is still not bad do you know how much HP the car they came off had or if it was was a stick or had a transbrake?
