I'll tag along on your post. Would like to know also. Currently running 14" 150# with the small block. Thanks.

I have 175# coil over springs on my car, most of the drag guys will run the 175# springs on a BBF Aluminum head engine and 175 OR 200# springs on a iron headed BBF combo

I'm running 175's on the front and stock springs on the rear. Car runs 10:50's with a 1.41 60ft. Pulls the front wheels about 6-8 inches.

Had 175's but switched to 160's.. The change didn't effect the 60 foot.. But then again the car is still a work in progress..

1.5 60 foot with foot brake and cast iron heads.. 3.27 rear gears..

I think if you need more lift in the front to aid weight transfer, then put a lighter spring 150# or lower and just adjust your ride hieght back to the original setting by screwing the adjuster nut up until it sit right. Now you have more stored energy to lift the front under launch. I needed to do this on my first engine, but after going to the 557 the 175 seemed fine, actually think limiting the front travel would have helped.

I guess what I am saying is it depends on you combination.

It seems everyone runs the 175# springs with the BBF though.

"rule of thumb" front spring weights on a fox...

up to 3000 lbs - 130 lbs
3000 to 3200 - 150 lbs
3200 + - 175 lbs

This is for maximum weight transfer.......if you are going fast and trying to "lose" transfer, go to a heavier spring..

isn't 175 pound the stock springs size on a 5.0?? i been searching for front suspension i was looking at this:

http://www.racecraft.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=272&products_id=88

but then with springs it has a option of 12" 250 lbs or 12" 350lbs springs , is this different for a street car? i plan on making my car fro street, carshows, and joy-riding, what spring size should i be looking at?? my car has stock trim 1990 LX , so 4320 base weight + 270 for 460 then-30 from new k-member

your fine Zeus ...i think Les is having a dream ...........

but as far as your question i would think the 175 - 200 would be fine for street use ...the suspension gurus might add there opinion Wink

thanks, ive been looking at that above suspension k-member package it looks like what i want but only offers 12" 250 or 350 pound springs just go with 250's?? it says its a street package , but im guessing its giving those springs for a 302 in mind not a 460 i might have to compensate for that extra weight compared with their pakage, the extra 270 pounds
