Its been rolling through Missouri tonight. Lots of tornado warnings and wind damage.

I heard the whole area was experiencing 100 mph winds? Thousands without power?

Thats why I would never live in the city. Can't get out if you have to evacuate. Saw some pictures of flooding also.

I usually just make a pot of Coffee and sit out on the porch and watch them.. no Biggie.... Tornadoes are just part of life around these parts, nothing to get excited about....

I will take them over earth Quakes everyday of the week, if need be you can get out of their way, but those goofballs in Cali if the ground falls out from under you where do you go?

As my dad, one of those Cali goofballs, would say..
" the ground shakes for a minute or so and it's over..
Unless something falls on you,you're fine...."

I say, we all have "situations" to fear.. Earthquakes, Tornadoes, and for me, Hurricanes.
So who is to say what is good or bad to deal with ?

Mike I think they got what they wanted I know that you never chase something you can't handle, and i know that you can chase a tornado, but you could be chased any second they have been known to take way different directions than they are going...and in that much population you are stuck not like out in open country where you can see them coming for a long way.... a lot of People chasing them think oh I will be ok, but they have never been in one, I have been in many in my life to many to count that's why I respect them and by Gosh I will not chase them I keep my distance, kind of like getting in a small corral with a pissed off Bull I know better...


A LOT of People that chase them Have no rime or reason they do it for the fact that they might get on TV when in fact they are in the way most of the time...they put their life on the line for what a little TV time?

tornado made a hard unexpected turn and they got munched........ I like to get pretty close but prefer to do so not so close to a big city like that.

in 1972 my grandfathers house was hit by a tornado it picked the house up and moved it 2 foot and slammed it down luckily no one was injured, the tornado shoved a fence post thru a cow, had wheat straw shoved thru a telephone post and not hurt the straw. in 1991 we had a EF-4 hit Pampa tx I watched it hit from North of town debris was flying everywhere, a few day later a guy up by Guymon ok was plowing his field and found a filing cabinet in his field it was a 3 drawer cabinet from Pampa almost 100 miles away still intact metal from that storm was found all over the panhandle 20+ miles from town. Mother nature has a mind of her own, she can be gentle of devastating and she is not partial to anyone or anything....

Jon the pictures I sent you several years ago of the one that went thru our plant , it was dead silent never heard a sound from it and was also dead calm you could have dropped a feather and watched it fall strait to the ground....I was only a couple hundred yards from it. it didn't look that big when I was so close, but to see the pictures from a distance it was massive.....it Killed 2 of my friends north of the plant they never heard a sound....

I just got word, those 3 that did perish were on the discovery channel series "storm chasers" a few years back.

It goes to show even though you are a verteran storm chaser you can still die.

bas deal......... honestly it wasnt a very chaser friendly storm with its motions and terrain it was in, the roads were jam packed due to rush hour traffic and the news channels screaming " you wont survive in your closet " and such......

union city/el reno tornado upgraded from an ef3 to and ef5, DOW measure winds at 296 mph. It also set an all time record for width, 2.6 miles wide.

Its a good thing the storm back built to the w and slammed into it gusting it out, we would have had deaths in the 1000s im sure.

and as I stated Mike Morgan is catching hell for telling people to leave if they couldnt get underground......
